Max Unger

Max is an institutional real estate and strategic tax advisor with more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate transactions, portfolio strategy and tax-efficient investment structuring. Prior to founding Structure P.C., he served as Senior Vice President – Director of U.S. Tax & Investments for Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (formerly Westfield), where he played leadership roles in more than $60 billion of institutional real estate transactions, including the $25 billion merger of Unibail-Rodamco and Westfield, multi-billion-dollar joint ventures, portfolio restructurings and over $3.6 billion of asset dispositions. Working closely with institutional investors, private equity firms, lenders, brokers and executive leadership, Max led transaction execution, underwriting, due diligence, negotiations and strategic planning for some of the nation's premier retail real estate assets. Today, as founder and CEO at Structure P.C., he advises institutional investors, family offices, developers and business owners on exit planning, cross-border commerce, commercial real estate investments, Opportunity Zones, REITs, joint ventures, DSTs, tax incentives, material participation, retirement planning, cash balance and 412(e)(3) plans, property tax appeals and other strategies that enhance investment value and maximize after-tax returns   He also serves as a Managing Director at Institutional Property Advisors, a division of Marcus & Millichap, where he advises clients and executes commercial real estate transactions on their behalf. His combination of institutional transaction experience and sophisticated tax expertise provides clients with a unique perspective throughout the business and investment lifecycle. He is a CPA with a Masters In Business - Tax from the USC Marshall School of Business, and a Bachelors degree from UCLA.
