Common questions

Before we begin.

Can you work behind the scenes with our firm?

We can structure the engagement around your working relationship. Client consent, confidentiality, conflicts, and permitted use of work product are addressed in the engagement process.

Is a private letter ruling available for every issue?

No. The IRS has procedural requirements and areas in which it will not issue rulings. Feasibility, fees, timing, and taxpayer-specific reliance need assessment.

Is website content a tax opinion?

No. A formal opinion requires a separately defined engagement and analysis of the relevant facts and authorities.

Are communications automatically privileged?

No. Counsel should determine whether and how an engagement should be structured for a particular matter.
